Washer of the Month: Rolling Door Parts Washer

Not every manufacturing facility has unlimited floor space. Many operations must fit equipment into tight production areas, maintenance rooms, or smaller work cells. In these situations, a compact parts washer can make a significant difference. They are able to maintain productivity without sacrificing cleaning capability.

AEC Systems designed a rolling door parts washer for a customer who needed a heavy-duty industrial washer that could fit through a standard 32-inch doorway. Situations like this are common in manufacturing environments where equipment must fit into existing facilities rather than newly designed production spaces.

A Compact Solution for Limited Space

Traditional cabinet-style parts washers often require additional clearance for swinging doors. In smaller areas, that extra space can make installation difficult or impossible.

A rolling door washer addresses this challenge by using a vertically moving door instead of a swing-out design. Because the door rolls upward, the washer requires less floor space in front of the machine. This design can make it easier to install a parts cleaning system in:

  • Tight work areas
  • Maintenance shops
  • Manufacturing cells where space is limited

For companies that need a compact industrial parts washer, a rolling door design can help maximize usable floor space while still providing access for loading and unloading parts.

Fixture Design for Specific Parts

As with our other custom parts washers, AEC Systems designed the internal fixtures of this system specifically for the customer’s parts. In this case, we built this washer to clean cutting tools, which required a fixture that would securely hold the tools during the cleaning process.

Custom fixtures help ensure that parts remain properly positioned during cleaning. Proper positioning can improve cleaning coverage and make the loading process more efficient for operators.

Flexible Loading Options

This washer also includes a removable center manifold, allowing parts to be placed directly on the turntable when necessary. This design provides flexibility depending on the size, shape, or configuration of the parts being cleaned.

Having multiple loading options can be helpful when production requirements change or when different parts need to be processed using the same machine.

Designed to Fit the Customer’s Process

We created this rolling door washer to meet the specific needs of the customer’s operation. Factors such as available floor space, the type of parts being cleaned, and operator workflow often influence the final design of a parts washer.

Customizing a system around these practical constraints allows manufacturers to integrate parts cleaning into their production process without disrupting existing workflows.

When a Rolling Door Parts Washer Makes Sense

A rolling door parts washer may be a good option when:

  • Floor space is limited
  • Equipment must pass through standard doorways
  • A compact cabinet-style washer is needed
  • Parts require custom fixturing
  • Flexibility in loading methods is beneficial

By adapting the washer design to the facility and the parts being cleaned, manufacturers can maintain reliable cleaning processes even in smaller or constrained environments.

Custom Parts Washing Solutions

Every manufacturing operation has unique cleaning requirements. Part size, soil type, available floor space, and production volume all influence the design of an effective cleaning system.
